About Gabriela: Filipina Kantina

Gabriela’s menu nods to the complexities of our culture’s rich (and truthfully complicated) history, aptly named after the female leader of the Ilocano independence movement from Spain.

Led by bravery and pride in her native land, Gabriela Silang was a military leader in the 1760’s who fought to her death to end Spanish colonization in the Ilocos region of the Philippines. Often called the Joan of Arc of Ilocandia, Gabriela Silang was a revolutionary and an inspiration not only for her time, but for our work today.

This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Super kind and friendly staff, will go again. The Lechon Pork Bell had both super crispy skin and yet very soft juicy meat (not dry). You have to choose to make you own dish, which is best to customize your meal. Try the sweet drinks and empanadas.

I really wanted to like this more than I did! Some bites were good, some were lacking in flavor. The whole bowl was quite oily, not sure which component was to blame for that. Possibly worst of all, the rice had dry, crusty bits that I couldn’t even chew. I love the concept though

Always bomb!! Went after they redid their menu. We ordered their rice bowl, burrito, they had a special soup for the week that was so delicious as well! Of course, we grabbed a few pastries. Everything was delicious as always. I’m still a huge fan of their pork belly, the crispy skin was amazing in the rice bowl! Don’t forget to grab it dirty soda :)

The young girl at the counter was the only worker at The Gatherall that interacted with us, and that made the sale, and am I glad she did. The food was delicious, we had the kale salad and the kale was wilted perfect, I had the chicken, rice, and street corn. The young girl recommended the potato "thing" and I do not remember what it was called but DAMN was it good. What a nice change to try something different and it be fantastic. Thank you for introducing us to something new.

Updated 7/14/24 -BAD REVIEW We have the Bistek with garlic rice and corn as side dish. The flavor was too SALTY; like it's been warmed up too many times. The garlic rice was HARD. The mussels were tasteless and rubbery. The service took 15 minutes for non busy time/day. There were 3 workers (normal). Original: First of all, this is not an authentic Filipino food. It's asian fusion place. Their chicken adobo is good; closer taste; again, not authentic. The steak tapa is also good, but little bit on the drier side. The garlic rice was good too, plus added the corn side dish. Also tried the malasadas. This is better if it's warmed up.
